Als Producer, Engineer und Mixer erhielt er unter anderem Grammys für seine Arbeit an Tom Pettys Wildflower Album, Santanas Supernatural, als auch für One By One von den Foo Fighters. Die Jim Scott - Rock Drums bietet eine exquisite Auswahl aus Jims Sammlung an Rock Drums der 50er, 60er und 70er Jahre. Diese wurden in Jims eigenen PLYRZ Studio mit erstklassigem analogem Equipment und über seine 8048 Neve Konsole aufgenommen.
Die Drums der Jim Scott Rock Drums Library sind unter anderem auf Alben von Robbie Robertson, den Dixie Chicks, Barenaked Ladies und den Red Hot Chili Peppers zu hören.
In Volume 2 sind die drei folgenden Drumkits enthalten:
Kit 1: Ludwig Red Sparkle
Jim Scott: ''Bought at the Saugus Swap Meet in the summer of 1994. They were on the ground with a big pile of bad hardware. The older Gentleman selling them was asking $600.00 for everything. I offered him $300.00 for the 3 drums. He politely declined. As I walked away I was feeling remorseful. Moments later the old Gent tapped me on the shoulder and told me it was a deal. I have used these drums, especially the Kick, on almost every record I have done since. Best $300.00 I ever spent. They are currently set up in the tracking room at PLYRZ ready to rock.''
Kit 3: Ludwig Champagne Sparkle
Jim Scott: ''Bought at the Saugus Swap Meet in the spring of 2000. It came with a second 12'' tom-tom.... but it wasn''t original to the set, it had a natural maple shell. I gave it to Don Heffington as a gift. I paid $175.00 for this little beauty of a set. Until recently I kept this kit at home for my kids to play on.''
Kit 6: Ludwig Sky Blue Pearl
Jim Scott: ''Bought at the Saugus Swap Meet in the summer of 1998. There was a movie prop guy there with a truckload of movie stuff and merchandise. The drums were absolutely pristine, with a matching snare and era correct right down to the hardware, cymbals and cases. He told me they were used for the ''Tempations'' movie. I paid $500.00 for the whole thing. The drums are clearly visible during a night club sequence in the movie. I was making a record with Todd Thibaud at Sound City at that time. His drummer offered me $600.00.... asked me if i wanted to make a ''C'' note on the deal...''
